Q: What airport should we fly into, and when should we arrive?

A: The closest and most convenient airport is Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). If you are starting your adventure in another location, Europe & Italy’s train network make it simple to travel. From the airport or train station, you can book a private car or van (perfect if you’re traveling in a group). For private vehicles, we recommend mydaytrip.com.

If you have RSVPed to the Welcome Dinner, you will want to arrive in the Lake Como town of Tremezzo by midday. You’ll have time to relax, sneak in a nap, or explore the area before the event begins.

Most flights from the U.S. are overnight routes that leave the day prior, i.e. flights arriving on Thursday morning will depart Wednesday night.

If your schedule allows, we highly recommend arriving on Wednesday, October 16th so that you have time to adjust to the time change.

Q: How much are flights, and when should I book them?

A: We have kept our eyes on flight prices since last year, especially during the month of October. We recommend downloading the following apps to monitor prices: Hopper, Kayak, Expedia.

From Miami, we have seen roundtrip flights for as low as $400.

From the Midwest, we have seen roundtrip flights for as low as $600.

Some guests have already booked their flights, especially if they plan on visiting other parts of Europe before or after the wedding. So if you see a good deal, go ahead and book!

Q: How do we get to lake como?

A: The fastest and most economical way to get to Lake Como is by booking a private car on mydaytrip.com. Whether you’re booking a trip from the airport, train station, or anywhere else in Europe, Daytrip makes it easy to get from Point A to Point B.

As of April 15th, a quote for the 1 Hour, 15 Minute trip from Malpensa Airport (MXP) to the city of Tremezzo is 150€ and includes 2 passengers, 2 large check-in size luggage, and 2 carry-on size bags.

Q: but what if i want to rent a car?

A: On our last trip to Lake Como, we booked online and rented a car at the Sixt location in Terminal 1 at Malpensa Airport (MXP). For some, driving in a foreign country may be challenging, but if you’re up for the adventure, just be sure to make yourself aware of the rules of the road, watch your speed, and know that you’ll need to navigate through multiple narrows roads and towns along the way.

Q: What about train, bus, or ferry?

A: If your schedule allows and you do not mind making one, two, or sometimes even three transfers, it will only cost 15-30€ according to Rome2Rio. Using public transport will take 3x as long and will require a combination of train/ferry, train/bus, or bus/ferry, with a little walking in between.

Q: Where should we stay?

A: Check out our Where To Stay section of the site. Just be sure that you don’t book outside of the Tremezzo area. Staying within the town will make it easy for you to get to and from the weekend’s events.

Q: Is there a Dress Code?

A: Yes. Please see below. It will help you decide what to pack.

Welcome Dinner

For this late afternoon / evening event hosted at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, the dress code is Stylish Cocktail. No sneakers, jeans or flip flops.

day on the lake

Dress for a fun boat excursion, and depending on the weather that day, maybe bring a light sweater.

The main event

The wedding will go from late afternoon to late evening, and the dress code is Black Tie Formal.

Men: Black or Dark Blue Tuxedo. No Suits. No White Tuxedos.

poolside goodbye brunch

All you need for our farewell party is casual, comfortable clothing and/or swimsuits and a smile.

Q: Do we need to bring a gift?

A: Absolutely not. First, we prefer not to receive any gifts. Your presence is more than enough. Second, your luggage space is more important – plus we don’t want to lug it around Europe after our wedding.

Now, since we know some invitees may not be able to attend and will want to offer a gift, or others may simply be rebels and insist on a gift, we will be linking a registry at least a month prior to the wedding.

Q: Do you need a visa to travel to Italy?

A: At this present time, you do not. You will need a passport, so double-check that your passport is up to date and does not expire within 6 months of your departure date.

Have questions about your passport, need to obtain one, or renew yours?
Visit the State Department’s Passport Website.

Q: what’s the weather like there in october?

A: Around that time of year, highs are in the low to mid 70s, with low temperatures in the 50s to low 60s.
